I am back
for a month, more or less,
after a year of dreary institutional prose
in which I found a voice
and a calling
but perhaps not
the fun, frolicsome nature of free verse.
Work with no play
dulls the right brain;
we learned that fact
a long time ago.
But too much play seems to undermine
the value of hard work.
How do we reconcile?
